Uniquely SJ Islands and Shared with the World

Our islands welcome 700,000 visitors a year (in a non-pandemic year) and more than 4,000 of them saw DEEP DIVE at SJIMA in 2019. That means that all of those visitors learned about not just our orcas and salmon, but the 113 other endangered species in our Salish Sea. They learned about Tahlaquah and her baby and some saw astounding First Nation art for the first time. AND they left wanting to take specific actions to help protect our waters.

Whether it was SeaDoc’s photography contest winners, sculpture or award-winning painters, visitors were surrounded by beauty, an Alex Shapiro composition, an original ballet and a chamber orchestra.
