Independent Contractor Position - Marketing Content Creation and Placement
Job Description:
Engage and inform a growing amount of media coverage and visitor engagements with SJIMA. Create increased attendance/participation at and “buzz” about SJIMA’s exhibitions, workshops, Family Art Days, Art For Fun, Art As A Voice, gallery talks and other events.
Status:
SJIMA and contractor intend the successful candidate to be an independent contractor for SJIMA. The contracted individual will work with and receive schedule and PR items as appropriate, from the board member in charge of marketing and publicity.
Qualifications:
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of the various media outlets and their audiences. Enough experience to efficiently place created content.
Enough knowledge to know what content will work or not for which audiences and the most effective formats paid and free.
Skills and experience:
Excellent writing skills and knowledge of correct grammar. Common sense as to what is effective and interest provoking content for SJIMA and the arts. Willing to work as part of a team. Able to write monthly performance reports.
Expertise with a camera is needed to facilitate timely publicity of events. Experience and interest in the arts and journalism are highly desirable. The contractor will interface and supply photos and copy to the volunteers and contract workers who post on our website, social media, membership, mailchimp blasts to members and donor and others as appropriate.
Work samples and results of past effort will be expected in the interview process.

Performance evaluation:
An agreed upon blend of steadfast, regular, on-time marketing placements on main media, an increase in the number of visitors, donations and members. The performance evaluation is also based on the ability to coordinate with and be acquainted with the talent and abilities of other SJIMA staff and volunteers; we are a team. Creatively developing original content is expected.
Pay and status:
Work averaging 8 hours a week. You set your own weekly schedule and work from your own office. Rate of pay to be determined by qualifications. As a contract worker, not and employee, there are no benefits.
